The Bailey and AEP property comprises 200 acres near Duncan Falls, Ohio. Forty of the acres were donated by the Bailey family to the Park District. Another 21 acres were donated by American Electric Power (AEP) and are under long term lease to Franklin Youth Baseball and Bergin Park volunteers. The remaining acreage was purchased from AEP with a grant from the Clean Ohio Conservation Fund.
This site has frontage on the Muskingum River as well as Salt Creek and the upland portion is comprised of Berks-Westmoreland soil which is one of the steepest in Muskingum County. The riverfront property is long and narrow and future plans are to develop as a site of the Muskingum River Water Trail for canoe and kayak access.
The site is currently undeveloped and a goal of the Muskingum Valley Park District is to develop a master plan with input from local residents.
Enriching the quality of life of Muskingum County residents by conserving natural areas, providing passive and active recreational opportunities, and developing an appreciation of the natural, historical, and cultural heritage of the area.
